I ordered the M-edge jacket for my Kindle 2 on 2/10/09, before it sold out. I just received it, and I love it! It has the Kindle 2-compatible mounting system, which is easy to attach/detach and really holds the Kindle securely in the jacket. There are also 2 leather bands on the opposite side corners, so that the Kindle doesn’t hang from the spine of the jacket. The purple leather with contrasting stitching is very rich-looking with a smooth and even grain. The brand name is embossed on the lower edge of the back of the cover. It is extremely well made. The inside of the cover is grey suede with one large and two credit card-sized pockets on the inside front. On the outside, there is a tab that is inserted in the front of the cover to keep it closed. You can fold back the front cover to read, which gives you a wider surface to hold onto on the left side. For the past 2 weeks, I had been using the Kindle 2 “au naturale” (think baby in a bathtub!!), and it was very slippery–which made me think several times I was going to drop it! The cover gives me something substantial to hold onto. It also makes it heaver, but not more so than a thick paperback. Now I can take it out of the house with no worries. Before I would put it in a padded lunch bag when I went out, which wasn’t a good look :) –and I still had to hold it in its birthday suit when reading!! If I ever do want to take it out of the case and put it in a sleeve, it’s very easy to remove the jacket. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase!

Just received this cover today, about 3 weeks after ordering from Amazon. Granted, it was ordered before the product was even complete, so I was ok with the wait. I am very pleased with it. What initially drew me to it was the color, it is a classy purple (think light eggplant) with an awesome pebbled finish. It is very similar in look and feel to a Dooney and Bourke pocketbook if you are familiar with them. It has a great leather smell, just like a new purse. And the additional room on the binder side (meant for the e-Luminator light – sold separately) gives you a nice place to hold the cover with the Kindle attached.

I love the hinge system, one of the main reasons I bought it. Coming from the K1, the original case Amazon provided was functional but the Kindle always fell out. So when Amazon improved the hinge for the K2, I knew I would only buy a case that had that feature. One word of note, I initially did not “lock” the K2 in the new m-edge case correctly and it almost fell out when I shook it (over a sofa) to test the support. Luckily the two straps on the top right and bottom right held it from falling. Then I discovered I had not closed the hinge enough and made sure the top hinge was securely pushed upwards to “lock it”. Installation instructions are not included with the case (weird) but are available from m-edge online. Amazon won’t let me post the url, but if you go to the buymedge website you can view the installation intructions.

The look and feel of the case is very professional. I am very happy with this purchase and do not expect to be taking the Kindle out of it very often. The only little issue I have is that the tab is a bit too snug when it needs to be slid into the cover to close. A snap might have been a bit easier. Still not enough of a con to drop the rating. But the tab does tuck away easily so as not to interfere while reading, which is nice.

I initially ordered the platform cover along with the prodigy. I sent the platform back. The prodigy cover felt more of a natural fit. The picture has the the cover of a slightly darker purple than what it really is. This was a minor disappointment. I like the hinged attachements. It took a few minutes to figure out how it work since no instructions were included in the shipment. It does add some weight to the kindle but that is expected. The kindle fits snuggily in prodigy cover. The cover is made of nice leather and with suede leather inside. In the inside cover, there are 3 pockets to hold business cards etc. I think it is well worth the cost.

I have been reluctant up until now to take my kindle out of the house. Now that I have a very nice leather cover, I will be “kindling “everywhere now.

    What I love:

    1) Does its job- Keeps my kindle in place and protects it. I like the hinges because I feel it is better for securing the kindle.

    2) It’s a really pretty color.

    3) Small enough to fit inside my purse without making it too bulky

    What I don’t like:

    1) there a little bit of space between the kindle and spine, but nothing that would keep me from purchasing this product

    overall A+

This case is really nice. The color is lovely and it holds the Kindle 2 securely. I can tell it will protect it very well. My only tiny gripe is that it’s a little too roomy for my taste for the Kindle 2. I think it should fit a little more snuggly (there’s a lot of space at the spine of the jacket when closed – I guess that’s to accomodate the optional book light that is not included). I don’t need the pockets for business cards and whatnot, I just want a snug case for the Kindle. I still take it out of the case to read usually because I like the slim feel of the Kindle itself, but it isn’t necessary at all to take it out to read or charge. Overall, this is a great product and a decent price.

This is a great case. Fits like a dream and a good case MUST HAVE a hinge system. The Kindle2 locks right in there and it will not fall out. Don’t go cheap with one that doesn’t have a hinge system–you’ll either lose your Kindle or end up just buying another case later.

The photo of the color isn’t quite right. If color is a REAL priority, the actual case color is more a deep lavender–not the deep purple in the photo. The case also has enough room to put a Nano, credit cards or a couple of bucks in the pocket in front. I don’t leave home without it.

I love this cover. It looks exactly like the pix. The color is gorgeous. The kindle snaps securely into the side of the cover. It makes it a little heavier but totally worth the protection. It made me a little nervous carrying the Kindle without any cover at all. It does not come with instructions but is easy to figure out. Great product.

I just received the Prodigy cover and Illuminator book light, and I already have the Go cover. I ordered the Prodigy cover to use when traveling,as I do quite a bit. The inside pocket is perfect for holding the boarding passes and other travel related paperwork, and you can put your driver’s license in one of the pockets so you don’t have to keep digging into your wallet to get it out.

I have seen several reviews where people think it is too big because they do not seem to understand that the extra space is to accommodate the light. For those people, they should consider the Go cover, which also has the marvelous hinge system and restraining bands, but does not have the gap for the light.

I ordered the M-Edge jacket the same time as my Kindle so it’s the only enclosure I’ve ever used. I am glad I chose this jacket over the other offerings, however.

There are two metal protrusions on the inside of the jacket that line up with two slots on the left side of the Kindle so you’re actually securing the device to the jacket. The Kindle rests on the right side, further secured by two elastic loops at its rounded top and bottom right corners. Even disregarding the loops the Kindle’s not likely to shift.

The inside of the jacket is finished in a dove gray soft material and the front cover has three pockets facing the Kindle (1 rectangle approximately the width of the front cover and 2 squares that can fit business cards slotted short side down) for odd slips of paper and business cards. When closed the device-holding jacket is about 3/4″ thick.

The finish of the leather doesn’t show fingerprints or scratches. It looks like the same kind of leather you’ll find on a Day Planner or sturdy wallet. The jacket cover front and back are very rigid but they are not padded. Still, I believe the device could withstand a minor jolt when bound within it.

The only downside I’ve found is the awkward typing position that is the result of their being a front cover so I’ve been highlighting and bookmarking but making very few notes.

Thought I had written a review for this cover when I received it back in June but it doesn’t appear.

This is a really nice cover for my Kindle 2. I purchased it because when I was considering ordering the Kindle, I had done a lot of research and read about people dropping their Kindles and breaking them. The cover was stated to give a little extra protection.

When it arrived, the first thing I noticed was that it was not as dark a purple as the photo on the site. I was a little let down but that’s personal preference and not everything looks exactly as it appears in photos. It’s still a very nice color.

Inside was a very soft gray leather material that was just very pleasing. I didn’t know it would be made like that so I was quickly over the fact that the cover wasn’t as dark as I had hoped. There are a few pockets in it so that one could place a business card or some sort of informational card should they ever lose their Kindle. Or one could place their ID or something in there as well if they wanted to use it in place of a handbag for the day.

It connects by metal clips to the hinge of the Kindle and then, to keep the back cover in place, (to prevent cracking), there are two straps on the upper and lower right hand corners. I put the cover on my Kindle, shook it over the bed to test it and it stayed put, even the little straps.

I love the design as well, especially the little strap to keep the covers together when not reading the Kindle. It’s very light and it holds a book light very well.

I’ve since heard about many different types of covers, have checked them out online and while there are some absolutely stunning covers out there, this M-Edge cover is so good, I just can’t justify getting a different cover. Very glad I purchased this one.
