In The Mid East, When Fathers Sells Their Daughters To Guys Their Age, How Does The Child Feel?

Like if you’re 8, and you get sold to another guy you dads age, how do you function if you’re young and looking at him like a dad of sorts, yet he is looking at you like a wife?

They feel like a piece of meat. Incest. The only difference is he isn’t related to her. Part of what makes incest so heinous is, it is the person who is supposed to protect the child doing the actual abuse. Having the parent give the child to a pedophile and not protecting her, is just as bad. Prostitution? Payment=dowry? Hiding behind custom or religion is just an excuse. A poor one at that.
Just because it happens, is customary, and expected doesn’t make it ok. It maybe easier to deal with since children who don’t know any different, won’t be as conflicted, but that still doesn’t change the fact that the “husband” is nothing more than a PEDOPHILE!
Now about commenting on other cultures and the fact that it is wrong to do so . . . I tend to find that these people also tend to be of a more liberal mindset. Do you also then have no problem with poaching animals in Africa, burning the rain forest in Brazil, slavery that still exists in parts of Africa, tribal/ethnic wars in Africa, Eastern Europe,and the Middle East, and female “circumcision” in parts of Africa? Oh . . . that’s different?? How? Different culture? You don’t have a right to judge them? You must then be in support of the same slavery (in Africa) that you are the first one to demonize (and rightly so) in American history. Just because it happened in history, or in other cultures, doesn’t make it untouchable. To those people, I call them hypocites.
In the Middle East, if a women claims she was raped, she must have multiple male witnesses that say the same. If not, she is guilty of fornication/adultery. Women are raped the night before they are executed, because it is illegal to kill a virgin in Islam. The problem Al- Qaeda had with female suicide bombers? Not that it is wrong to kill someone, but how long is it acceptable in Islam for a woman to be without a male escort before she dies?!? So the fact that it is acceptable in another culture means I have no ability to condemn it? That is political correctness gone to hell. What’s right is right, and what’s wrong is wrong. Sure the U.S has problems, but I try to fix them, and won’t hide behind my religion, or culture.
A grown man could physically damage a child. I wouldn’t consider anything acceptable under 17-18. They need to be physically mature. I think it is morally wrong under 18. I child has a right to be a child, not a sexual slave.
Oh! To the brilliant person who commented on young women in the distant past having children . . . that’s when the life expectancy was 30-35. If women waited until 25 to have children, They’d have very few, and wouldn’t be around to raise them. With all of the diseases/high child mortality rate, the human population wouldn’t be what is is today. Obviously if there is a 50 year old pedophile looking for an 8 yr old bride, that life expectancy isn’t a problem anymore. Actually it is a shame that the life expectancy wasn’t up for him. With the age difference the husband would boss the wife around. That is exactly what he wants. A female who can’t/won’t challenge his control.

Kids can adjust to almost any horrible situation especially if its what they were raised to believe. My nine year old would be horrified if I told her I sold her off to be married to a 50 year old man but they are brought up expecting to be married that young. It doesnt make it any less sad for us here who know better, but luckily children have the power to adapt and thus survive.
Its a totally different culture. It wasn’t that long ago that females were married and having children at 13 or 14 here in the US. Things like cousins marrying weren’t that uncommon either.
I think it wrong but It’s really up to a culture to see the wrong in it’s own practises. What’s horrible to us is very normal to someone else. People in the middle east look at our practises and policies and are sickened by our blind support for the jews. The billions of dollars we give the them and the weapons we provide them with so they can fire a 50 cal. automatic at a teenager armed with a rock.

When this happens the girl usually knows about it years before and expects it. The man/husband does not get her for a sex object only. She will wash clothes and clean the house. Probably it will not be his only wife.
In Syria where i stayed once the lock was busted, the wife didn’t want to stay in the room anymore while the husband did whatever he wanted and she fought with him. Yes, the lock is on the outside of the door. They actually think their women have no brains, just them.
Personally I feel that we should all thank our lucky stars that we born into a more civilised culture. True 8 is not a baby but nor is the mind of 12 year old either. But so indoctrinated are these people especially the woman, they accept (well most do) that this is how there life is gong to be,
You and I and no doubt thousands of others view this as brutal, women ane girl babies are often abandoned at birth and literally left on the pavement. People actually walk by and dont do a thing about it.

It’s just a matter of cultural differences – the children probably know it’s a possibility at a very early age if that’s the practice of that society (weird as we may see it), and are prepared for it accordingly. Whether or not sex is a factor is where I think we in the liberal West would find cause to take acception, but it may be that sex is postponed until the girl reaches puberty.

The baby isn’t in a position to even understand her body, much less the institution (marriage) she’s sold into. 8 is an age when babies are supposed to be playing in the nursery — not in bed.

Anyone that sells their 8-year-old daughter to a man her father’s age…just needs to be shot. IMO
father shouldn’t marry off his daughter unless if she’s matured, intelligent and conscious enough to consent it wisely. but 8 year olds with that high physical, physiological and psychological maturity are considered unusual to find. therefore, making this thing so general would be scary.
but thought that they don’t receive the same exposures like how girls in other districts do, i think they’d just bear with it as some sort of culture and get used to it, thinking of it as ok. i just hope that they don’t have sleep with their ‘husbands’ before reaching puberty.
another thing is the media. it could be only 10 families out of hundreds thousands families practicing this culture, yet these 10 are the ones that got documented, making people easily mistaken it as if this happens in whole mid east. what I know generally about middle east is that, it’s very hard for the men to marry any women because the women themselves put very high amount for their dowries –assuming those women to already be above 18 that they can decide that.
i’ve heard and read that in thailand too, it’s quite a norm for the very poor parents to sell their little daughters to prostitution (where they’ll be prostituting for the pimp’s profit). we’ve been wondering how would those girls feel; and somewhat figure out that the girls have gotten used to it so they don’t feel it the way we do.
guess the same goes with the scenario you mentioned, especially that these things usually occur in poor, deeper rural areas
I think this question is an indication of how successfully the *powers that be* in the USA are deliberately misrepresenting the Middle East to the American public in order to demonise it and justify military action as we escalate towards all out war with Arab nations.
I was shocked when a former military official said he is convinced that the USA will nuke parts of the Arab world eventually. Nowadays I am not so sure he was far off the mark …
The question is absurd.
Arranged marriages do happen in the middle/far east (as they do in the west – though perhaps more subtle) but not in the way described in the question except perhaps in the most unusual tribal situations.
And it’s not selling – it’s considered a dowry. Just a custom. Not unlike a father here in the USA preferring that his daughter marries a lawyer or a doctor rather than a pizza delivery man. Please do not presume that money doesn’t matter in this, *the most* capitalist country in the world.
What is the difference between what you describe and the purveyors of child porn in the west? None.
